The effect of using online language-support resources on L2 writing performance

Abstract Language learners today have access to a much wider choice of resources and language-support tools that aid their writing processes. While research on the convenience flexibility use in real-life activities argued for re-conceptualization ability, little is known about effect using them assessment setting. Accordingly, present study aimed examine whether L2 learners’ test might an performance. Furthermore, we also investigated how effects vary by takers’ proficiency scoring domains. Results showed group who had outperformed were not given online resource, but both groups’ scores within same descriptor. The significant score improvement was more evident low- intermediate-level learners. In questionnaire, takers reported they normally situations found resource features helpful improving performance agreed upon introducing such future tests.
